What is WHO or the World Health Organization ? (World Health Organization Celebrating its 70th anniversary)

It is very essential to access proper health care for healthy living. But around the world, there are still millions of people who have no or very little access to good and affordable health care. Due to poverty, a huge number of people are dying on a daily basis due to improper or no treatment against deadly viruses like HIV, TB, Malaria as well as the rising level of epidemics, lifestyle diseases like diabetes & cancer as well as viral diseases and superbugs which are showing resistance to treatment. Hence the World Health Organization is a huge committee that excels on the idea of providing good health care and treatment to the millions of underprivileged and poor people just to provide a better and healthy living. Hence the WHO has decided to dedicate this year’s World Health Day for providing Universal Health Access to anybody, regardless of their age, income, or pre-existing health condition, should be able to avail medical treatment and hospitalization without financial difficulties.

Agenda of the WHO

WHO is working to achieve these goals by providing Universal Health Coverage or UHC, which is by providing essential and quality health care services (including both preventive and palliative care) to all the underprivileged and making it accessible and affordable at the same time. According to a recent analysis, within 2030 there will a massive decrease in the number of deaths due to the lack of proper health care and treatments.

Some of the main objectives of the WHO are as follows:

  • To ensure that healthcare reaches to all parts of the population even with poor or weak financial status.
  • To make sure that the services provided should also protect the population against financial crises or risks.
  • The main motive of the ‘WHO’ is to make sure that the services provided are sufficient and good enough to improve the conditions of all the poor and underprivileged.

Current Scenario

There are many countries that provide Universal Health Coverage. But in India, it still remains a dream. Still, there are many initiatives which are been taken by the Govt like the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana which provides coverage of Rs 5 lakh per annum to the poorest 10 crore families. It is not even close but is a good start by the country. People not eligible to access the benefits must seek their own coverage for now.

The cost for the treatments like cancer and other diseases are so expensive that even people of the mediocre families suffer and cannot provide the best facilities and treatments as it can easily cost a fortune and can completely decimate all the savings. Hence it is very important to have a Medical Insurance which can lessen a huge amount of burden at times of emergencies. So lets have a quick look on the must have Insurance products as there N numbers of products out there in the market.

The importance of a Medical Insurance

In a health emergency, the health insurance policy is the best Trump card that you can play as it will very likely help to remove the huge burden of the expensive treatments from the best hospitals putting less stress to your bank balance. It will also encourage and support you mentally. Hence it is very important to be insured. Even a basic health policy can help you against the huge expenses of hospitalization or the treatment of critical illnesses.

Apart from the basic coverage of health policy, the policy can also take care of the Pre and Post hospitalization expenses as well as day care treatment, maternity expenses or even annual health checkups. To take benefits of health insurance, the key is to have one when you are young as the older you get, the more costly it becomes to buy a policy. A person can even cover his/her entire family under a single family floater cover or a group insurance cover. So if you still don’t have health insurance, it is best not to wast more time and get a policy suited for your requirements as soon as possible just to secure yours as well as your families future.
